Bermuda is changing and our senior population is increasing rapidly. This means that the demand for our services is also on the rise and we need volunteers to help fill the gap. In particular, help is needed in the following areas:
- preparing meals and packing for delivery
- pot-washing and clean-up after the meal preparation
- people to hand deliver the meals directly to the recipient’s home
Please consider helping out with this very important work. You can fill out the Volunteer Application Form or simply contact our Volunteer Coordinator for more details. You’ll meet some great people and provide important support to those who need it most.
Want to make a difference in our community? Consider being a Meals On Wheels Volunteer and make some new friends as you help others.
Volunteering with our charity gives the opportunity to support vulnerable and elderly members of the community. Meals on Wheels provides healthy meals for those who may not otherwise be mobile or able to cook a meal. The meals are prepared in a central kitchen in Paget and then taken out for delivery by car all over Bermuda. As we are dealing with some of the community’s most fragile members, an important part of the volunteer role is to interact with the recipient when delivering the meals. This can be one of the most rewarding aspects of volunteering at Meals on Wheels.
Meals on Wheels operates from 8am until 1:30pm on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday excluding Thursdays, holidays and weekends.
Volunteer positions are available for cooking in the kitchen, pot washing, driving and assisting the drivers on meal delivery.
*Kitchen volunteers: a mesh hat and apron are required at all times while being in kitchen performing tasks.
