Our Volunteers Make It Happen

Volunteering with Meals on Wheels provides an opportunity to support vulnerable and elderly members of our community. The dedication and commitment of our volunteers enables Meals on Wheels to provide healthy meals for those in need of assistance four days a week.

Meals are prepared in our facility in Paget then delivered island-wide. As a volunteer, you have several task options from which to choose and the hours required vary depending on the task:

  • Kitchen: 2.5 – 3 hours (8:00/8:30 – 11:30 a.m.)
  • Pot Washing: 3 hours (10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.)
  • Dispatch: 3.5 hours (9:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.)
  • Delivery: 1 – 2 hours (11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.)
  • Administration: As required

It is worth noting that as a MoW driver you will have an opportunity to interact with our recipients. As we are told, over and over by our volunteers, this can be one of the most rewarding aspects of volunteering with Meals on Wheels.

All volunteers are asked to commit to assisting one day per week for a set period of time.

Please consider helping with this very important work. You can fill out our Volunteer Application Form online or contact our Volunteer Coordinator – Miriam Maccoy – for further information and/or for answers to any questions you may have. We also recommend you peruse the Volunteer section of the FAQ page on this site.

NOTE: Meals on Wheels takes the safety and security of our recipients very seriously.  View our Protection Policy of Vulnerable Persons.
